How do I get orthotics made with SmartLife Physiotherapy Clinic?
Your physiotherapist, chiropractor or chiropodist will perform an assessment to check your feet for pain areas/deformities, as well as analyze how your feet move. An imprint of your feet is taken either by plaster cast, by foam-casting or by GaitScan technology. This imprint is taken in neutral to ensure the shape of your feet is captured for making your custom orthotics. This plaster cast/foam cast/digital scan is then sent to an orthotic lab along with the healthcare professional’s notes to create your custom orthotics.
Once they are created, we help you ensure they are the correct fit, as well as teach you how to wear and care for your custom orthotics.
GaitScan is the technology we use at SmartLife Physiotherapy Clinic for precise digital imprints of your feet. These imprints are both used for creating your custom-made orthotics, as well as to help your physiotherapist determine whether you have any biomechanical problems in your walking. This is done by analyzing the data collected by sensors on the plate that measures the timing and pressure at 10 different landmarks of your feet.
